Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages and booking links people use, so we know what is working. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and collects things like the pages you view, the links you click, the type of device and browser you use, and your approximate location (city level). It does not give us your name, email, or phone number, and we have turned off Google's advertising features for this site.

You can block this with your browser's privacy settings or Google's opt-out add-on. Google's own practices are described in How Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Checking dates and booking

When you pick dates, this site asks our booking system which homes are open and what your stay costs. Those requests carry only the dates, the number of guests and the home. Booking happens on book.shenandoahhostservices.com, our booking system, which collects what it needs to confirm your stay and take payment.

The chat assistant

The "Ask a question" chat is an automated assistant, not a person. Your messages, and the page and dates you are looking at, are sent to our assistant service, which uses an AI model to write the replies about our homes. If the assistant can't help and you leave your email, the team gets your email and that conversation as a follow-up request and uses them only to reply to you. Your IP address is passed to the assistant service too, which keeps it only in scrambled (hashed) form, to limit abuse of the chat. Please don't share payment details or other sensitive information in the chat.
